Myths Related To Self-Employment

Barbara Garcia

Self-employment is a different industry, and people work on their rules and regulations to set up small businesses and then make them big. While self-employment requires continuous efforts from them, it is not nonstop labor where they cannot rest.

Just like other industries, there are myths related to self-employment as well. Mentioned below are some of the most common myths related to self-employment.

  • Self-employed people work for long hours

Self-employed people tend to work longer than the employees this might be because they enjoy their job so much. Some people start a business that requires their physical presence at all times  to earn income whereas this is not the case for other businesses some can be looked at from homes online . Either way it is your choice what way you choose to set up your business. Many people set up a business  where they only get paid on if they are working such as an attorney who opens a law office and earns at an hourly rate but when the attorney is at home they don't make any kind of income.

It is not compulsory that you have to set up a business that provides you income only when you are working. Creating a business like this makes you start a job for yourself, you can make your system that generates income for you.working long hours on your business is your choice if you don't want to.

  • Self-Employment is stressful

Self-employment is less stressful compared to employment. If you are making the same amount of income you were making while employed shows that self-employment is much easier to handle as there is no one to fire you. You can work on your work timings and have the freedom to manage projects with your own choice. You can set the hours you want to work in. If you feel stressed, you can take your time off. There is no force or pressure on you.

  • Customers are always right

One of the advantages you have of being self-employed is dealing with a client and customers and firing them because of your problems and loss. There is no deal or need to deal with people that don’t respect you. If someone is causing you and your business problems, just refer them to your other competitors.

  • Self-employment requires people to do everything themselves

In self-employment, you work for yourselves; you are responsible for dealing with everything yourself. You do and can use help as it can be a burden doing everything by yourselves. You can use different softwares to help you in your business and complete the task for you on time. This would help you get over with dealings and clients faster than you think and would also eventually help in increasing your income.

Myths Related To NPO’s

Barbara Garcia

Nonprofit organizations are working in various parts of the world for various causes. While nonprofit might be trying to achieve their goals through different efforts, there are some common myths that are related to them and should be addressed to better understand their role in the market.

Have a look at some of the common myths related to NPO’s.

  • NPO’s should not make any profit

One of the big misunderstandings in the world is that the NPOs (non profit organizations) can not make any profit. This concept states that  all the money that is raised for the funds is spent on the cause it is raised for. This is false as the word or term “non profit” is an inapplicable title. Whilst the NPOs are tax exempt however this does not mean they cannot make any profit. In fact, the NPOs should try to make some profit in order to save the future endurance of the organization. This profit can be spent on evaluations and on hiring staff to work for the organization.

  • NPO’s are run through volunteers

It might seem like NPOs are in need of volunteers all the time since it is quite easy to volunteer for them but this is not the case as the NPOs hire professionals to carry out their work. Some of the NPOs employ volunteers to help their staff in their work however many do not hire any volunteers and rely on their professional staff to carry out their work professionally.

  • Nonprofit employees do not have a career

One of the myths many people seem to believe in is that there is no career option  for the employees of NPOs. This is not true as the professionals choose non profit sectors as it has many benefits of its own and also the NPOs only hire professionals to regulate their work and smoothly run the process in a systematic way.

  • NPO’s do not engage in politics

People think that the NPOs non profit organizations can not be included in politics this is false as this misconception is quite common among people. NPOs should get involved in politics as it can help them raise funds and receive charities and as a non profit organization it can be easier to speak about the policies and the laws of the government and how they impact the public and the NPOs themselves. Thus speaking on a particular issue but it is not allowed to engage political activity.

  • Nonprofit are unorganized and inefficient

The  conception that the NPOs are slow and are unorganized is popular among people. This is false as this myth hides the fact that the NPOs are smarter and they work in a more systematic way. Nonprofits organizations tend to work towards problems and causes that don’t seem to have a end. This misconception is common; therefore, every NPO has its way of working and cannot be compared to other business or government sectors.
